For this 2023 season, Slow Village has decided to set up shop in the Dordogne, in the former Bel Ombrage campsite. It is 20 minutes south of Sarlat, in the shade of chestnut trees and on the banks of the Céou River that you can enjoy a new bucolic refuge in the heart of the Périgord Noir. Discover the incomparable charm of this little corner of paradise for a 100% slow holiday in the heart of a preserved nature. And if you want even more, the numerous hiking trails along the most beautiful vill... ages of France, or the canoeing excursions on the Dordogne should finish convincing you. See you in Saint Cybranet

The cabin was perfect and much bigger than we thought. Lots of storage and electrical points. Pitch was great, very shady. Pool really nice and river wonderful.
A toddler step and toilet seat would have helped hugely. The pool opening at 9am for adults to swim for an hour would be wonderful.
Accommodation review
Storage, comfy pillows, loved the inside / outside living, electrical plug points

Good clean site with lots of activities for the kids, very friendly and helpful staff.
There is no supervision at the swimming pool some lifeguards would be a good idea. If not then better information to advise of the risk.
Accommodation review
Good size and plenty of shade.
Unable to use charcoal barbecue.

A beautiful shady campsite with clear cool river running through it. Beautiful pool, great bar serving bar food and drinks.
About another 15 Parasols needed at the pool and an adult swim between 8am and 10am would make this absolutely perfect!
Accommodation review
Having access to the river from neighbours pitch (T03) Tiny house was perfect for 2 people, loved having the large sink and drainer. Good storage space provided by shelves. Comfy large sofa. Personally didn’t need a microwave so put that way which gave us more space. Loved the coffee filter machine. The shower was perfect! Good pressure and I liked the colour coding. Toilet - efficient, good flush. Sink - good size.
Think fans are a necessity - we brought 2 but would be nice if provided. Had to put fan on a chair in the bedroom which meant had to climb over bed which is getting more difficult as getting older! Wall mounted fan would solve this. Nowhere to hang clothes - even a few hooks around the room would help, had brought hangers but nowhere to hang. And a mop for the floor would be useful. Would have loved a bigger fridge. Otherwise all perfect.

The staff were friendly and welcoming; The campsite pitches were shady; the new block wash rooms were clean; the swimming pool a good size for lane swimming as well as 2 additional pools for younger campers; the cool water of the river was an added bonus in hot weather. It was nice to have a variety of les boules and table tennis on site. The bin and recycling facilities were good. The bread and croissant order service was a useful addition.
We wish the pool had opened earlier, perhaps at 9am, to allow those of us who want to lane swim time before younger campers arrived. It was sometimes difficult to get the attention of service for drinks at the poolside bar in the afternoon. The composting bins need attention with wood chippings to add to the mix.
Accommodation review
We loved our Cuisine in that it provided plates, glasses, cutlery, saucepans, utensils. We were able to prepare our food and store a few belongings. The table, chairs and deck chairs were an added bonus. We would choose this option again and seek out campsites with this facility.

Location was perfect, lots to see and do within a short drive. Right by the river, it was perfect for cooling off, paddling and swimming - it was crystal clear! Quiet area with no surrounding noise. Was beautiful to see the hot air balloons passing low overhead a few times. Really enjoyed the pool area, even when busy it didnt feel crowded as there were 3 pool areas. Really handy being able to order bread and pastries fresh each day.
Would be useful to have a little shop/ stand on site with a few essentials like cleaning bits, matches, milk etc as there isn't a shop like that close by (or if there is and we missed it, some info could be given in reception about nearby shops etc.) Enjoyed the food on site but it was very very slow tom e served, anything to speed this up would be good.
Accommodation review
Ours (T25) looked out on to the river which was nice. Lots of storage space inside. Really clean and neat. Comfy beds. Nice decking area for eating/relaxing. Coffee machine (having 2 small energetic children, this is a must!) Kids loved playing on the netting.
Windows on mezzanine had no way if locking them/ restricting the opening, our 2 year old could open them with no help. It meant we had to keep them fully closed and have an adult sleep with each child as we were terrified they would fall out of them if we weren't there! Also, could do with a small supply of things that are not used much - washing liquid, salt & pepper, cooking oil would be helpful to avoid buying and then having to throw away.

Lovely shady well equipped but quiet campsite conveniently situated for attractions and facilities. Very pleasant staff and very helpful.
There was a hot water problem eventually resolved but showers were good when problem resolved. The shop is very limited and an increased variety of products including food and drinks would be preferred.

No we love this site and it hasn’t changed under new ownership. We don’t like the mosquitoes though and maybe you could spray to keep them down?

We were staying in our campervan on a pitch with a slow box which is such an amazing idea. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the area and to come back after a day site seeing and spend some time in the pool and relaxing in the evening was very welcome. We would recommend the Slow Village to anyone.
There was nothing we disliked. We would have liked to have a drink poolside but fully understand the reasoning behind the rules.
Accommodation review
Large pitch with plenty of space for chilling out.

The campsite is absolutely beautiful, lots of trees, flowers and therefor feels very natural. It is situated in an ideal location, from which you can visit loads of fun things in the surrounding area. They have a nice little restaurant/bar, which is ideal for if you are feeling lazy and don't want to cook ;) Really recommend!
We visited Slow Village as a couple - and we noticed that there are a lot of families with kids. Of course you're not going to be able to avoid that completely (it's a camping thing), but therefor I would not necessarily say it as a 'romantic' atmosphere for us as a couple.
Accommodation review
Lots of trees and bushes which made the spot quite private, even though the camping was fully booked.
The spots next to us were families with very young kids, who were waking up very early and making lots of noise throughout the day. Of course that is not something that Slow Village can prevent, but it was a bit intense for us as a couple.

Slow village has been a really nice experience on our trip and we regret that we couldn't be there more days. The environment is truly peaceful and natural, quiet and perfect to disconnect. Having such a river accessible to the bath I like especially
Accommodation review
I have particularly liked the design so well-used and the good condition and functioning of all services. We hope it's staying like this because we hope to come back
I think that the service of sheets and towels should be included in the price, as it is an essential service in any accommodation. This point would make price quality ratio more consistent

We were apprehensive as the campsite had a change of ownership, but we were pleasantly surprised and the general atmosphere had not changed and the staff were friendly and helpful.
There had been some disruption to areas due to earthworks undertaken but it is clear the campsite staff are on course to restore the landscaping during the course of the next year.
Accommodation review
The grass and hedges were well maintained on our pitch and the staff were very accommodating.
The site exits and entrances are on a bend on a fast road and it would be appropriate to have a speed limit/traffic calming as there are families with bicycles and caravans regularly entering/exiting the site.

Having the river next to the site was great and the children loved the pool.
Had a great time and loved the site. Only slight negatives were it was very noisy at night. We had a family next to us who were shouting and playing music until after midnight. Pool needs more umbrellas. More signage needed in bathroom. People didn’t know which was washing up, washing clothes , brushing teeth.
