Le Martinet campsite on the banks of the Loire at Briare Le Canal offers you the chance to get up close and personal with nature. On the banks of the Loire, discover the sixty species of dragonfly found in the Loiret, follow in the footsteps of the discreet beaver, rediscover your child's eyes as you observe the sublime day peacocks, the colourful bee-eaters, the terns, the kingfishers and of course the swifts, these prodigious birds which have given their name to our campsite and which have ... the surprising characteristic of never landing on the ground. They eat, drink, sleep, breed and collect nesting material without ever stopping to fly, except when it's time to lay their eggs.
Just two kilometres from the famous Pont-Canal de Briare, you'll learn about the fascinating local history of Henri IV, Jean-Félix Bapterosses and Gustave Eiffel.
You'll also enjoy all the amenities of the town of Briare le Canal, just ten minutes away on foot, or five minutes by bike.

The pitches were a large size. Hedges gave privacy and mature trees gave shade. Swimming pool a great feature. Electric points at no distance from the emplacement itself Town is only a short walk away, so an ideal location. The region is charming and Briare is a good base.
The sanitation block is really tired and desperately needs updating. I won't be coming again until this is improved. No toilet seats. Very dated. No privacy from men's urinals. Thought this was really poor for a modern campsite and would expect better. Given there is a pool and children's play area, time to invest in a small bar/guingette and make something of the site itself.

95% of the things that make bikepackets happy - shaded camp site. access to a common room and a refrigerator, food and drink available on site and WIFI. And of course good and clean shower and washing facilities and friendly staff.
Nothing at all. Only suggestion is consideration for a covered area with tables to allow cooking, eating and gathering should it be economically feasible.

The location is great. Very peaceful and a nice walk or cycle along the river into town for provisions or a pression.
The sanitaires are a little dated but they were perfectly clean so not an issue for us.

We arrived late, contacted reception via email and prompt response. Just park up and call to reception in morning. Site is huge but could do with some care to grass and paths. Facilities are clean and showers hot.
A little trimming and tidying would be great.

Second visit. Last year - at the end of the season - which made us want to return. This year, after long rainy spells we visited in late May. Many pitches were starting to dry out and most vistitors were motorhomes.
Grass and some hedges need to be cut more often, especially for the benefit of early season visitors. When the toilets are hosed down the water should be squeegeed away not left on the floor all day!

Where do I begin? The toilet facilities were usable but were so in need of upgrading and never enough for busy times despite the site being far from full. The fact that there is only one of member of staff on site only at the times the reception was open led to some very unacceptable behaviour from some of the campers (motor homes). Youths were tearing around the site on motorised scooters. The children were in the swimming pool which was closed to everyone else. It culminated in them taking the site buggy & racing around on almost hitting my caravan. We decided to leave a day early.

Quiet, shady grass pitches between the river Loire and the canal. Plenty of hot water. Good location on edge of Briare near the marina and the canal viaduct.
Although the facilities were kept clean they were old fashioned and tired with broken door locks. There were toilet roll dispensers but no actual toilet roll; hand sanitizer dispensers were empty; no floor mops in the ladies showers.

We had a pitch with water, electricity and waste water drain. We used our van shower as the ones in the block were tired, no hooks, seats and dark.
Update the facilities, improve the ambience by better lighting, clean the wire mesh over the toilets or even remove it, provide a better place to empty your toilet that is not a grate where the motorhomes empty their waste. More water taps around the whole site.

The pitch was OK. Could have done with the cut grass being gathered up, and the track leading to having the potholes filled in.
Lack of a WiFi signal was unfortunate but we got around it. Be nice if you could get some bread and pastries at reception in the morning.

Fantastic location .
One day some young lads were racing around the campsite on the green buggy. At one stage 3 of them were actually in/on it. Completely reckless behaviour, they were hurtling along the camp road going very fast around blind bends, skidding deliberately.

Grass was extremely overgrown, very few water points, there was one very close to me, took me ages to find it as it was hidden by the overgrown laurel hedging.
