Vaison la Romaine is situated 8 miles from the foot of the 6,263ft high Mont Ventoux and is surrounded by the numerous picturesque villages of the High Vaucluse. It is a real paradise for walkers, cyclists and wine lovers. The town itself is renowned for its imposing Roman ruins, its medieval _old town_ as well as its large and fascinating Provencal market each Tuesday. The town has two large supermarkets, a wide range of smaller shops as well as many excellent restaurants. English newspapers ar... e available from early morning in the town. The area benefits from the lovely Provencal climate. Camping Théâtre Romain caters for couples and families who are looking for a peaceful and spotlessly clean campsite. It is the perfect spot to appreciate the beauty of Provence and the history of the area. Established in 1994 the campsite is less than 600 yards from the town centre, a gentle stroll past the ruins of a Roman town and its Roman theatre. We have 66 pitches as well as 16 Mobile Homes for rent situated on over 3 acres. The pitches are mainly separated by hedges interspersed with mature trees to provide partial shade. Our facilities include a heated swimming pool, a boules area and free Wi-Fi internet access. There is no organised entertainment for children !!

This is a very well run and friendly site near to a beautiful Provencal town with all amenities to hand. The management have worked extremely hard to create a friendly, sociable but quiet campsite for which reason people return year after year. For us the main bonus is the access to the best cycling country in France but the reality is that this is the best campsite that we've ever stayed in.

We book a motor home ("camping. car") pitch. there is water, electric and drainage on the pitch. Pitches are separated by hedging which gives added privacy. The facilities are clean and well-maintained and the pool area is clean and welcoming.
Nothing to speak of but a larger swimming pool would be nice. Apart from this, I don't think this site could be improved.

Jerome , his family and the team of people who work at the campsite are fabulous, very friendly and hardworking. We love the Boules at 5.00pm and the Tournament on Thursdays is a lovely, fun and friendly competition. We have been coming to this site for about 15 years and hope to come for the next 15!!
